Tai Young Lee is the founder and chief operating officer of two business companies in Baltimore: PTC International, an international marketing company and the recipient of the Small Business Exporter of the Year Award of the US Small Business Administration in 1998, and International Portfolio Management (IPM), a private wealth management firm. IPM has affiliated offices in Seoul(KIPM) and Hong Kong(AIPM)
By professional training, he is a holder of Ph.D. in economics and business (Indiana Univ.). Between 1974 and 1985, he was a professor and the chairman of economics and marketing department at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. He received additional training at the Wharton School of Business of University of Pennsylvania and the Graduate School of Business at University of Chicago. His undergraduate degree was from the Law College of Seoul National University in Korea
He was appointed by the Secretary of State Colin Powell in 2003 to be on the Board of Governors at the East West Center in Hawaii and served for four years, 2003 thru 2007. He was a member of an Advisory Board of the governor of Maryland, William Schaefer, for five years, 1989 thru 1994.
