Dr. Y. S. Park is currently Professor of International Finance at the School of Business of The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In addition to George Washington University, he also taught at Georgetown University and Columbia University. Before joining academia, he had worked for the World Bank in Washington as a Senior Economist in the 1970s. He also served as a member of the board of directors of Samsung Moolsan Corporation from 1998 through 2009, and during the past two decades he has been on the board of directors of the Korea Economic Institute of America (KEI) in Washington. In addition to his MBA in finance and MA in economics, Prof. Park received two doctorate degrees: DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) in international finance from Harvard University Business School and PhD in economics from George Washington University.
Among his many publications are such books as Project Financing and International Financial Markets, International Bankingand Financial Centers, International Banking in Theory and Practice, Oil Moneyand the World Economy, and The Eurobond Market: Function and Structure, as well as many articles and reports in the fields of international banking and finance. Dr. Park has been a consultant to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Inter-American Development Bank, U.S. Agency for International Development (AID), U.S. Federal Reserve, U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Foreign Service Institute of U.S. State Department, U.S. Export-Import Bank, New York State Banking Department, Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies, and other private and public institutions around the world.
